MOCA Jacksonville Book Club: Losing It All to Sprawl
  • Losing It All to Sprawl: How Progress Ate My Cracker Landscape takes a look at urban sprawl and its effect on the environment in the Sunshine State. Florida native Bill Belleville tells the story of his historic farmhouse and the destruction of place. Buy the book in the MOCA Shop or check it out from the Jacksonville Public Library, then join a guided book club discussion and interactive hour-long tour of Southern Exposure at 1 p.m. or 7 p.m. Enjoy a meal at Café Nola before or after the discussion time of your choosing. Reservations are encouraged.

FIS/FNF Free Thursday Evenings: July 30
  • MOCA Jacksonville partners with FIS and Fidelity National Financial to provide free Thursday evening admission and tours throughout 2015. This free evening allows a far greater number of community members to experience MOCA Jacksonville’s formidable exhibitions, take part in its inventive programming, and get to know FIS and FNF as sponsors of one of Jacksonville’s premier cultural landmarks. Join us at 7 p.m. each Thursday for a forty-five-minute tour of the Museum galleries.

Summer ArtCamp@MOCA: Week Seven
  • Join MOCA Jacksonville this summer as we explore themes in contemporary art and new materials and methods of art making during nine weeks of camp! With weeklong sessions for students ages 4-14 taught by experienced art educators, we have exciting opportunities for all children at both the Museum downtown and on campus at UNF.

Art Fusion in Hemming Park: August 2
  • This favorite family pastime moves to the outdoors once a month. Join one of MOCA Jacksonville’s professional art educators in Hemming Park for a hands-on art-making project inspired by the works in the Museum. Have lunch at Charlie’s Café, play a game of giant chess or checkers, listen to live music, and explore the Imagination Playground—all in Hemming Park. Then head inside MOCA Jacksonville for more fun. Children who take part in Art Fusion in Hemming Park receive free gallery admission that day. Don’t forget to take advantage of Bank of America Museums on Us the first weekend of each month and Regions Sundays, which are free to Regions cardholders every Sunday.

Art Fusion: August 5
  • Art Fusion provides a creative and inspiring environment for children to work with their parents or adult caregivers. Led by a professional art educator, Art Fusion enriches children’s creative minds through hands-on projects related to the Permanent Collection or the current Featured Exhibition. Art Fusion takes place in one of MOCA Jacksonville’s fifth floor classrooms during Downtown Art Walk on the first Wednesday of each month.

  • First Wednesday Art Walk is an ever-changing free event that features more than forty downtown venues which display works by a wide variety of visual artists. MOCA Jacksonville, an Art Walk anchor site, hosts special guests, and always a surprise or two.
